The Journey

My journey began in Ottawa, Canada.  It was here that I made the decision to pursue a life of  travel, adventure, and experiences over possessions.  I decided to change my life to pursue a minimalistic sustainable nomadic lifestyle, allowing the winds to take me where I need to be.  So I sold my house and bought a boat.

The plan was to retrofit the boat for living aboard off grid, with the intention of heading to the Caribbean and South America, and then possibly circumnavigating the world.  Plans seem to have a way of needing adjustment, and I am constantly updating them based on new circumstances.

01. The sailboat

S/V Spontaneous

This 1985 Jeanneau Attalia 32' showed up on my radar at just the right time, and I fell in love with it straight away. Two cabins that I can sleep in, 6’4″ headroom (under hatches), good sized cockpit, and deck space, and what looks to be an amazing sail, whether cruising or racing. In addition to this, the boat appears to have been well taken care of. This will be the boat that will get me started on this journey.

02. The dinghy

M/V Impulsive

The Takacat 260LX is the smallest, lightest version of this boat, coming in at 55lbs. It is powered using an electric torqueedo travel 1103 S.

Clipper Race: 2023-2024

Welcome to the adventure of a lifetime!  While investigating plans to travel south with S/V Spontaneous, I stumbled upon the Clipper Race.  This round the world race will see me travelling around the globe, and will really enhance my sailing skillset while doing it.
